Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star GOLD Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. In 2016, AFP Triad was one of only 38 chapters, among 243 chapters in AFP International, to receive the Ten Gold Star Award — making AFP Triad one of only two chapters in the state of North Carolina.
A Ten Star Gold Award recognizes high performing chapters for their ability to accomplish 16 goals during the previous year. The honor sets these chapters apart as models for excellence in the development and support of professional philanthropy. Along with the award comes scholarship support for new members and access to exceptional educational and instructional material.
“We are deeply grateful to the 2017 chapter leadership of President Pam Anglin, chapter administrator Jean Krapfel, and the 2017 Board of Directors and Committee Chairs for their perseverance and dedication toward achieving the demanding requirements of the Ten Star Gold goals, which in turn benefit our chapter’s ability to provide quality programming and member support,” said 2018 chapter president, Dale Melton.
Criteria for the award are determined by AFP International Headquarters. A list of several goals is published annually, and chapters must accomplish 16 of these goals during the year and submit a nomination form for verification to be honored.
